Birthday lunch! Majors Bay Cafe

CIMG0272.JPG Majors Bay Road in Concord is a famous cafe strip in Sydney’s inner west.  I tried Majors Bay Cafe (mainly because it was in the Entertainment Book) but didn’t even end up using it.  They have a great value “lunch express” special which is a salad or pasta, plus woodfired bread and a glass of wine or soft drink for only $15. I had the penne with chicken, mushroom, pesto, sun dried tomato in a creamy tomato sauce; whilst my companion was happy with the moroccan lamb salad with rocket, cucumber, fetta, red onion and minted yoghurt dressing.I personally don’t eat lamb (think.. Mary had a little lamb..), but the flavour was apparently awesome – but with a bit much of the thick yoghurt.  My pasta was cooked perfectly and the flavours were perfectly balanced. This is just my opinion (probably influenced by aversity to fat), but it was very rich with the cream. Actually, it was my companion’s opinion too. But hey – no need to worry, it was my birthday!  The bread acted as the perfect dipper to finish off the sauce.  Sit outside on the patio if it’s a nice day, and finish off with a scoop of gelato from one of the many shops there.
